Our Place

We have Faith in the Land just as our predecessors did when special parcels of the Douro Valley were demarcated by the Marquês de Pombal in 1761.

He placed Marcos Pombalinos (stones) in the valley telling the world that these were the best vineyards in the Douro; the ones making the highest quality Port wine that could be exported.

The Stones

The Stones are an integral part of the Pedra Alta history.

The Lagares

One of the fascinating things about the Douro is that foot treading grapes is still very much part of the winemaking process.
